By the time we got going, it was up to -10F/-23C. Nothing too ambitious at these temps: just a slow Hok #skijor with the #huskies down a snowmobile trail we knew we could get to from plowed roads.
Tonttu's paws definitely aren't used to this cold! But he didn't complain too much: just the occasional paw shake & much eagerness to get back in the car when we were done.
Windchill stung a bit on return trip, but overall was bearable: we'd bundled up well (too well for when there wasn't any wind).
Quick Hok #backcountry (ish) #skijor today down along the Minnesota River, starting at Caspersen Landing (Hwy 77). Could have been better. Could have been worse!
This is an ungroomed trail, popular with fat-tire bikers, snowshoers and hikers. Usually not much fun on traditional X-C skis, so we thought we'd give the new Hoks a try. For the snow conditions, probably not the best, but the #huskies didn't seem to mind!
