Just stumbled across How to Ski and How Not To, a woman-written 1921 guide to skiing.

I'm particularly interested in the how NOT to ski bits.

It's National Stamp Day and the Olympics are later this month, so it seems like a wonderful time to learn about the history of USPS Olympic Stamps. USPS started in 1932 by commemorating skiing in the Lake Placid Winter Games and most recently gave us a commemoration of snowboarding in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Someone told us it's National Eyewear Day, so we thought you might like to see some of ours. This style of ski goggle was the fashionable way to protect your eyes on early to mid-twentieth century slopes. They came into use in the early 1930's and were still being sold when the modern sealed goggles pioneered by orthodontist Bob Smith became available in the late 1960's.

Don't you just hate it when you have everything set to travel back to 1966 for some old fashioned skiing, including those hard to come by TARDIS reservations, but can't remember what people were wearing then? Well, check out this video made a few years ago by our friends at the Colorado Snowsports Museum!

(The TARDIS should be able to hook you up with something appropriate, but I like to double check.)
