in case you're still using those, read my rant on this flavour of addressable RGB LEDs, an why I prefer SPI based #APA102 and #SK9822

next, add a black bezel, a 16-segment font and add a video over..., hmm, underlay. and lots and lots of eyecandy.

Working on an animation heavily inspired by an awesome artwork I recently saw by Andy Gilmore( https://www.instagram.com/reel/CpOrC3nrjlO ) I have a bunch of colour envelopes, each offset by half a colour steps of the previous, controlling the rolling motion of each circular ring. Rendering each pixel in each ring with its own color envelope & cycling through them to crrate this gorgeoues movement of light. Still very much a WIP #generativeart #pixelmapping #esp32 #sk9822 #apa102 #algorithmicart

WIP of one of my ultra popular #ledmask the Anubis ! 783 x #apa102 5050 pixels on 144ppm 10mm strip driven by an #esp32 using my very latest animation system & the latest interactive, appless #webapp to set up the animation que. Using the global brightness system, specialy utilised on the APA102 & #sk9822 chipsets, Im able to drive this from a standard 15w USBC powerbank. Most of the super bussy animations are dimmed (using GBB) whilst still giving a full blast experience.
Almost done with this #ledmask I need to add some blackout tape around the eyes, as there is way too much light seeping inside. Feels like a disco on my face #sk9822 #apa102 #esp8266
WIP: I have secured the matrix to the rear of the mask so the pixels backlight the forward wall. Have attached the headband with buckle straps & connected the controller to the headband. This has 216 x #sk9822 #apa102 pixels driven by the @espressif_systems_official #esp8266 I was a bit over eager on the pixel count, had to do some trimming & adjusting around the upper edges of the matrix. Next up, a soft piece of fabric for the back, neaten up the cables & set up my favourite que #ledmask
Pixels pixels & moar pixels! Slowly getting the backing matrix assembled. All the strips are soldered from the rear to save cable foldimg space around the edges of the mask. Using #sk9822 #apa102 5050 #ledstrip #pixels #ledmask #esp8266
This is my 3rd attempt at modelimg a mask in #fusion360 using #surface modeling. Took about 10 hours to print, its hollow with a 5mm air gap between the rear and front 1mm walls. Fits perfectly and is about to get all lit up! Ill be using #sk9822 #apa102 5050 pixels on 10mm wide 144ppm strip for the highest pixel count i can get on the inner surface
The Pixel Belt, in its almost finished form. I may add a longer elastic belt to accomodate larger than 34" waist. With this many modules if you have a very slim waist the modules will wrap around you completely. The #esp8266 based controller sits on the belt and backfeeds power via a second jst plug that conects into the other side of the belt #sk9822 #apa102 #ledwear #ledbelt #ledwear #festivalwear
More WIP of the Pixel Belt! The #prussa finaly finished printing all the diffusers & base caps. I spent some time cleaning the suports from the end caps and making sure they smoothly slide onto the 20mm elastic straps. I ended up on using 9 modules so there is a centre module and 4 on each side. Im a 34" waist and it covers from side to side for me. Each module has 3 x 8px #apa102 #sk9822 10mm 144ppm strips zigzagged and interconected to the next module via 4way ribbon IDC cable....
