The Mercian Pilgrim 🌲 ⛰️Stokesay Castle in Shropshire dates from the 13th Century. Unlikely to have been intended as a serious castle, it was however attacked during the English Civil War.
There is a legend of two giants who kept a box of treasure in the castle, but upon losing the key, both died of grief.
