Today in "I fucked up".

A gal vibe coded her store, and she forgot to set the payment plugin to "production".

She literally lost six figures (CLP) in a single day. She only noticed when called me:

«Hey Italo, how do you remove the "Testing mode" when you pay?».

Some people must stay AWAY from a computer, at least for a while.

Facinating write up of the recent rubygems drama's, in what's being named the #RubyGemsFracture

Brings up critically important conversationbs on running small self organising affinity groups and navigating community owned governance.

My take is this is not as simple as left vs right and that there are many parties involved who have really behaved quite terribly.

So much in this one.

Love to see the innovation in the GraphQL space: #Shopify reworked #graphql execution from depth first to breadth for performance gains.

"Almost every GraphQL implementation uses this depth-first pattern, including the canonical graphql-ruby gem that we have used since 2015, and the official graphql-js spec implementation that it follows. In our experience running this execution model with Ruby, we’ve found that it scales poorly."

I actually really enjoy developing themes in the #shopify ecosystem, but I'm not into marketing in any way and struggle with things like conversion rates, optimising for sales and all the other stuff that goes with it.

It's a job in itself really, and I'm probably being naive but I wonder how useful it all can really be? I guess for multi-million dollar companies yeah, but for most businesses it's overkill.
