43 years ago today the keel of USS Vincennes was laid in Pascagoula, MS.
The real ship took 1.5 years to build... this model took 8!
At least the Navy didn’t have to rebuild what Dragon messed up 😄

On this day in 2022 the Nord Stream pipeline was blown up.
Years earlier, the Solitaire laid hundreds of km of it — now scratch-built in 1:400 by Gabriéle Glücks, award-winning at NAVIGA-C in Budapest.

Those #SilentRunning biosphere #shipmodels got around. They seemed to have shown up in a few multiship scenes in #90s #StarTrek.

While a different model, a similar build was used for the #HarlanEllison concept of the #ARKship for #TheStarlost in 1975. (It even sounds like some of SilentRunning’s score was reworked for The Starlost’s trailer.)

You note the same narrowing title font from #50s #ForbiddenPlanet that made a bigger splash later the #70s #StarWars.

#Humpday two weeks ago, I launched a poll to see which non #StarTrek #1970s live-action #ScienceFiction #TVshows people had seen.

Not a huge response, but 3/10 had seen Space 1999.

Today is the anniversary of the moon’s in-universe September 13, 1999 breakaway from Earth. So I’m celebrating and amplifying with other #Space1999 fans here.

I encourage all those who love trippy #SciFi and #ShipModels to give it a try.
