From a threshold ⚒️

When we removed an old, high and wide threshold. We then made a compromise with a low and wide made of birch wood instead. And the piece that was left over got to be another trivet.
I used beeswax this time and heated it in, trying to keep the birch woods light colour 🌳

From my sisters birch floor we laid in her hallway I were able to save a few pieces that were over. Its a birch tree my dad has cut down so thats a bit of a fun detail.

This piece are intended as a trivet, but so far it hasnt moved from its spot in the windowsill 😅

I have waited very impatiently for these to fully dry. I have not used oil paint on wood before, so this was an experiment for sure.

I have not really tried shipcarving before either. But sometimes when you have an idea you just have to go for it. I rather try then think I cant do it, othervise I will never learn 🙃

The idea from the beginning was smaller cuttingboards, but I guess you can use them as smaller trays or just be placed somewhere to look nice.
Not perfect but I like them. Very nice pieces of birch witch are lindseed oiled.
