🔬 A natural experiment on the effect of herpes zoster vaccination on dementia
People who received the shingles vaccine had a 20% lower incidence of dementia over seven years. Women experienced a 25% reduction, while men saw a 10% reduction. The vaccine also reduced shingles cases by 37.2%.

I had my second shingrix (shingles) vaccine yesterday and I'm feeling terrible. I felt bad after the first one buy this is worse. I'd hot rather blase about vaccines as I've never had any issues with others, flu, covid, etc. I'm sitting indoors and shivering with a coat on, and my tracker watch keeps giving me abnormal heart rate warnings.
If its like the first one it should be mostly over by tomorrow, on day 3 I just felt a bit weak.

I really hope this UK research is proven correct. Not only does shingles vaccine reduces the risk of shingles, it may reduce the risk of dementia. Sounds like a win/win. I just had my shots! 😉 In Australia, everyone over 65 can get shingles vaccines (2 shots) for free.
