Two endangered leatherback turtles were freed from shark nets off Sydney's Northern Beaches in one day.
"At least 51 beaches in NSW are meshed between September and April to protect swimmers from sharks. Councils have called for shark nets to be replaced with alternatives that do not harm marine life... Around 90 per cent of the animals caught in nets were not target species.

Ditch destructive #SharkNets for good.
Shark nets, and #SharkCulling, do not reduce the risk of shark bite and provide nothing more than a false sense of security. Tell the NSW Government that itβs time to ditch the nets for good and bring shark bite risk reduction into the 21st century.
