“L’idea di fargli una statua esiste, vediamo se riusciamo a realizzarla. E poi gli daremo le chiavi della città”. Sesto Pusteria è un Comune di meno di 2mila abitanti, un’ambita meta vacanziera grazie al suo magnifico paesaggio e le Tre Cime di Lavaredo, ma è anche e soprattutto il luogo dove è cresciuto Jannik Sinner, tennista italiano più vincente della storia, numero uno al mondo del ranking Atp e reduce dal trionfo a Roma. Ecco perché il Sindaco Thomas Summerer, a Rai Radio1, ospite di Un Giorno da Pecora, ha ribadito la volontà di fargli una statua.
“Stiamo ancora festeggiando la vittoria di Sinner a Roma, abbiamo festeggiato nei bar, in strada, nei piazzali, ci siamo goduti la vittoria di questo nostro grande campione, che ha passato 20 anni quei a Sesto, dove ancora vivono i genitori e i nonni”, ha spiegato il primo cittadino del comune altoatesino, che ha anche confermato la visita di Sinner a Sesto Pusteria prima di andare a Parigi per il Roland Garros: “Sono contentissimo, nel nostro paese tranquillo potrà ricaricare le batterie per vincere il Roland Garros. Io andrò a salutarlo un attimo ma lo lasceremo in tranquillità, non vogliamo assolutamente disturbarlo”.
Durante l’anno è sempre in giro per il mondo e quando non è su un campo da tennis, è impegnato o in attività promozionali o in vacanze con la fidanzata Laila Hasanovic, ma quando può, Sinner ne approfitta per tornare a casa, godersi la famiglia e un po’ di tranquillità e quotidianità. La “sua” Sesto Pusteria glielo riconosce e presto, appunto, potrebbe dedicargli una statua. Sarebbe l’ennesimo successo di una carriera già fantastica. L’altoatesino, però, è già concentrato per il Roland Garros. Vincerlo sarebbe mettere un altro mattoncino nella storia del tennis: in caso di successo a Parigi, infatti, completerebbe a soli 25 anni il Career Grand Slam.

Sesto Pusteria is a municipality of less than 2,000 inhabitants, a sought-after vacation destination thanks to its magnificent landscape and the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, but it’s also and above all the place where Jannik Sinner grew up, the most successful Italian tennis player in history, number one in the ATP rankings, and fresh off the victory in Rome. Here’s why Mayor Thomas Summerer, on Rai Radio1, guest of Un Giorno da Pecora, reiterated the intention to make him a statue.
“We’re still celebrating Sinner’s victory in Rome, we celebrated in bars, on the street, in squares, we enjoyed the victory of this our great champion, who spent 20 years in Sesto, where his parents and grandparents still live,” explained the mayor of the South Tyrolean municipality, who also confirmed Sinner’s visit to Sesto Pusteria before going to Paris for the Roland Garros: “I’m delighted, in our quiet town he can recharge his batteries to win the Roland Garros. I’ll go to greet him for a moment but I’ll leave him in peace, we absolutely don’t want to disturb him.”
Throughout the year he’s always traveling around the world and when he’s not on a tennis court, he’s busy with promotional activities or on vacation with his girlfriend Laila Hasanovic, but when he can, Sinner takes advantage of it to return home, enjoy his family and a little tranquility and routine. His “own” Sesto Pusteria recognizes it and soon, indeed, it could dedicate a statue to him. It would be another success in a already fantastic career. The South Tyrolean, however, is already focused on the Roland Garros. Winning it would be putting another brick in the history of tennis: in case of success in Paris, it would complete the Career Grand Slam at just 25 years old.
