@dangillmor I told the Serious Trouble podcast (https://www.serioustrouble.show/) that I would not renew my subscription for that reason, and urged them to move to Ghost. Sadly they're staying on Substack.

Another podcast I like, Left, Right & Center (https://www.kcrw.com/news/shows/left-right-center/) recently started a Substack. I really need to talk to them about that, and maybe stop my small recurring donation to KCRW.

This episode of Serious Trouble is interesting.

I had heard about Elon Musk's lawsuit against the advertisers, and I *almost* posted something at the time harping on the First Amendment to argue that the lawsuit was bullshit, but I stopped myself.

I think I was right to stop myself. It is more a matter of antitrust law than a matter of First Amendment. I'm definitely not as knowledgeable about antitrust law as I am about the First Amendment.

However, the lawsuit is still bullshit. Ken White explains it well in this episode.

Hacks

Elon Musk doesn't get his preferred judge for an antitrust claim against his critics; Musk and Trump did not violate the NLRA on their Twitter chat; various things are not defamation.

Serious Trouble

Follow up: on the latest #SeriousTrouble (11/8/23, “A Whole Lot of Finding Out”), Ken White says he went through the calculations of the sentencing guidelines, and with many caveats, comes up with a minimum of 30y to a maximum of life, based on scale of the loss, probability that SBF lied in his testimony, and other factors.

While he has a Mastodon account, Ken posts mostly on BlueSky these days.

It appears that #SeriousTrouble is @Popehat.

Thank you all for these amazing suggestions. I have added seven new podcasts to listen to.

And since he's too humble to mention it, I'll add that I just discovered that @andrew has another podcast called Esquiring Minds.

@marnier @PeterRobison

Latest episode of #SeriousTrouble with @Popehat opens with guidance on which articles are likely more trustworthy: when they provide sources. It is crazy how few do this across the spectrum of topics. For example. they’ll give a quote snippet, but not link the full interview transcript. So many fail at the basics of both journalism and web hyperlinks. Be vigilant everyone. https://www.serioustrouble.show/
