🇷🇺 **How Extractive Was Russian Serfdom? Income Inequality in Moscow Province in the Early Nineteenth Century**

"_Our findings reveal that serfdom resulted in high inequality and extraction levels as well as low social mobility despite of low levels of enforcement by the state. We compare our results with those for 1904 and find that, in spite of emancipation, inequality remained high during the nineteenth century._"

it's actually not okay the extremes it takes for some folks to leave Twitter. O_o

and still, some people (who don't personally agree with the many issues) just *still* linger on there casually, seemingly immovable.

Like, anti-consumer, monolithic, data-harvesty platforms that you submit misused personal info to. That should be bad enough, but instead, the effective standard we have as a global community is wayyy too low.

On 14 June 1381, #WatTyler and an army of peasants seized the Tower of London, the only time it fell. King Richard II agreed to parley, pledging to end #serfdom. On #ThisDayInHistory Tyler met the king and was instead executed and 1500 rebels were hanged. Do not trust the state.

On #ThisDayInHistory in 1381, the #PeasantsRevolt under #WatTyler began. It opposed high taxes for war and leveraged labour shortages caused by #BlackDeath. It was crushed by a lying king, though helped end #serfdom. #Capitalism's birth served to maintain structural inequalities.
