Another day in May, another public holiday in France, with an extended weekend to boot, as a significant proportion of French businesses will be either shut or with reduced staffing on Friday. This year, the effect is particularly acute, and already in January, many online magazines were explaining how to optimize one's paid leave allowance with the days off in May. I'm self-employed, so holidays are always a bit meh as far as I'm concerned. Fortunately, I can step out into our small wood and listen to the sound of the birds.
Sound on for this then, a recording of local bird song, with the tropical bird sounding golden orioles featuring as the regular summer and nesting visitor.
