Just got the septum piercing that I scheduled last night : P It's a titanium horseshoe - I'm allergic to nickel so it was important that I have hypoallergenic hardware. Thankfully, that was the default piece and I didn't have to pay extra. I'll have to leave this in for 6 months before it'll be ready to remove. My tech was super nice. I'll include more deets on the piercing process unlisted with a content warning in case people don't want to hear about it.
So it seems like my months and months of planning are falling apart. Before you think "Oh no, this is terrible", fret not. Because it isn't as dramatic or important as all that.
Basically, I anticipated that the wearable area of my septum hole would remain a meager 5mm, but after much stretching, it appears to be much larger. I keep getting 10mm, which means if I put a tunnel in there at 10mm, I could do as I originally planned, which is to put an 8mm ID ring through the tunnel. I'd have to go wider and it would not look good so...I dunno what I ought to do.
Now that I have reached my goal of 10mm in my septum, I am left thinking "Dare I go bigger? Was my goal not ambitious enough? Dare I go to 12mm? Where does the madness end???"
Well, somehow I managed to get the 10mm plug in to my septum hole. That is a full 1mm jump, which I have never done before. They say if it goes in, it was ready, so I guess it was ready! It's very sore, but not in pain. I expect nose drippies, but hopefully not as bad when I taped the 9mm.
It's just glass, no tape. We'll see! I'll keep my 9mm handy in case it drives me crazy.
I made a stainless steel tunnel at work, complete with grooves to hold a rubber ring at both ends! It is 9.5mm wide, so it should replace he lost glass plug.
I will in all likelihood end up hurting myself, but we shall see!!
