Tokiwa-yu was rebuilt as a temporary bathhouse after the Awaji Earthquake of 1995. It's still running in the same temporary building.

I only found out yesterday that there's a Hyogo Prefecture sentō stamp rally. It started on Nov 1st, 2025 and ends on Feb 26th, 2026. I'm starting 2 months late. How many sentō can I visit before the end of Feb?

Prizes are given for visiting a certain number of baths, or visiting all the baths in a particular region of Hyogo. As it's the furthest region from my house and it's the one with the least number of sentō at 16, I'm starting with the Akashi-Himeji-Awaji area. #sento #Hyogo

Today is the winter solstice (冬至). On this day it has been a tradition since the Edo period that bathing in hot water with yuzu fruit (ゆず風呂) provides protection against chapped skin, chilblains, and colds.

Here in Osaka the prefectural bathhouse association sponsored by Osaka Gas delivers Kochi Prefecture yuzu to participating baths. A PDF list of 201 sentō offering up a yuzu bath today is available on their website.

In #Tokio bin ich am Abend meines Ankunftstages in ein Nachbarschafts-#Sento zum Baden gegangen. Vor dem Eingang warteten diese beiden Klassiker.
Die kleine hätte mich in Versuchung geführt, hätte mein Gepäck für die vor mir liegenden vier Wochen nicht nur aus einem Board-Trolley und kleinem Rucksack (21 l & Rolltop) bestanden.

Auf dem Schild steht:
"Wenn Sie eine #Kokeshi-#Puppe möchten, nehmen Sie sich bitte eine (sie ist kostenlos)."
