Catherine McCarthyHad such a wonderful experience this past Sunday gifting a 1000 origami cranes to a super cool local health store called Sunseed Co-op. They’ve been in business since 1974 and are awesome. They were psyched to receive the cranes, and said they’d give them out free to customers. Today I received this sweet email from them. Made me smile huge and tear up a bit too.

This is the design of the paper I’m using to fold the next flight of 40 origami cranes. The yellow center of this cute succulent will appear on the top back of each crane. Have folded 920 cranes so far using various colorfully designed paper. Once 1000 cranes are created and gifted to my friend, I will have reached my goal of creating a Japanese senbazuru for them wishing them peace and happiness.

mioA member of the Italian origami society has started an initiative asking people around the world to fold an origami crane, as a symbol of unity.
The goal is to fold 1000 cranes, after the story of Sadako Sasaki and the thousand paper cranes.
