In a week, I'll start a 3mo art residency. I'll be working on incorporating mixed media with my whimsical animal portraits. I'm excited because as a self-taught artist, I use art mainly as a way of coping with the stress and loneliness of caregiving. Being accepted into the 1st cohort feels like a win at many different levels. Feel free to drop a pic of your favorite furbaby and I may use it as an inspiration during my 1st week of painting.

I remember when I got my first paints they behaved... unexpectedly. And I didn't really know what they should be doing. Be like toothpaste? Or more tomato puree? Can I use office erasers and pencils I already have? (Spoiler: most are terrible) This is by no means an exhaustive list, but hopefully saves you some headscratching.

Chasse aux paréidolies dans ma palette de travail, je leur ai juste ajouté yeux, griffes et becs, il y en a beaucoup comme vous voyez !
La palette fait 20/28 cm et c'est du papier BFK Rives.

Hunting for pareidolia in my work palette, I just added eyes, claws and beaks to them. As you can see, there are lots of them!

Cette peinture s'appelle Les virus.
Il s'agit d'aquarelles de toutes sortes dont des Ganzaï sur papier BFK Rives, il fait 25/33 cm.

This painting is called Les virus (The Viruses).
It consists of watercolours of all kinds, including Ganzaï on BFK Rives paper, measuring 25/33 cm.
