The #ruTorrent web interface to my #seedbox keeps acting up, and doing restarts and repairs only seems to fix things for a day or three. But what I've read suggests sharing 4300 torrents shouldn't break things.
So I've been playing with the other #torrent clients available on the seedbox, qBitTorrent and Transmission. The latter is a toy only fit for simple downloading. I've been sharing some DVD rips I did for 15 years.
While #qBitTorrent has some capabilities, it's missing something as basic as dropdowns. I doubly categorize all my torrents; triply the newest ones. In ruTorrent, I can traverse a directory tree to get to the particular folder I want to drop a torrent in.
Not so in qBitTorrent, which expects me to type in a long filepath manually. I'm not going to drop different sorts of files, from multiple public and private servers, in one big pile.
I also label everything in detail, again mostly from my sixty pre-made labels, which I choose from a dropdown. qBitTorrent expects me to manually input those as well. Yeah, no. The amount of hoops required to make Q work barely adequately is too much, and I'm forced to stick to R, no matter how many errors it pops up when I change a ratio or whatever.
For those curious, here's an overview of my setup:
For starters, I have #qbittorrent and #Syncthing running on a #seedbox from whatbox.ca. Their cheapest option is pricier than I expected, but still less than half the cost of even a single major streaming service. The storage isn't nearly big enough for my library, but I don't plan to use it for storage, so that's totally fine. The bandwidth is phenomenal.
The one-click installs for the two apps I use were great! Super easy, super fast, and immediately accessible by web UI.

I have been planning this since last fall, but the coming #YouTube lockdown has finally gotten me to request an account on a #PeerTube instance! To start I will reupload content from my old channels, but I hope to eventually return to livestreaming (also on PeerTube and/or with #Owncast, since I won't be using #Twitch any more either). I am also thinking about getting a #seedbox and having magnet links to torrents of all my stuff, but since I know that PeerTube uses #webtorrent, I'm wondering if I can just get a magnet link for my video from my PeerTube instance and pass it to the seedbox.
@fenndev i2p torrenting is easy. It's slow, and unfortunately not a lot of obscure stuff, but popular stuff is there.
Look for the i2p browser(Firefox derived only) extension/add-on, way easier set up. I think mental outlaw(YouTube) has the best walk-through for i2p.
Also, might wanna to search for #debrid and #seedbox as alternatives. Certain combinations are very "popcorntime" and with the right combinations you might not need an actual VPN, though I would recommend it.
Anyone with experience re #torrenting #seeding #seedbox:
We (#SafeguardingResearch) need your input to share around 100GB of files (mostly PDFs, all legally sourced)
Please ping here or via matrix @schoeneh:matrix.org
(Signal also possible, upon request)
Please boost ππ
@carusb Yes!
I will torrent #seedbox - but #ActivityPub with torrenting would be awsum
