Who is going to secure world???

This is your monthly welcome and reminder that we have a #meetup next week. It will be at the regular place, @impropercity Wednesday, October 18th at 7pm. No experience necessary, we are a group that can talk about resent #security news, day jobs, #bikes, or other hobbies. We are a #citysec organization that meets in #denver. I can chat with you about the recent #ddos landscape, a few of the last local conferences like #bsides denver, or #secureworld.

Looks like it might be a bit #chilly, so we will decide if we are inside or not while on-site.

Hot take: my company spent over $150 for #SecureWorld #Denver and to be honest I was not impressed. I am not trying to knock the speakers, but it was just a bit too high level to even work with. I have never been, but I wanted to check out the local scene, and interact with other team members. The matter was true, but again lacking substance. I would go to @bsidesden any day over Secure World. I am not sure if it is directed at #CISO ‘s, but seemed to be. #bsides!

The ‘taken-for-granted’ disappears
A look out of the window or at the screen reveals a world where our 'ontological security' is disappearing. Our very fundamental sense of being is being broken. Our sense of continuity of our lives is ruptured. Multiple crisis rock the sense of the self. All of a sudden we are all at the ‘front-lines’ experiencing the polycrisis.

I'm really having difficulty viewing this as anything other than an attempt to deprive users of control of their own devices. It's an extension of the project #Google began with #SafetyNet, and with #Qualcomm's #SecureWorld hardware would give manufacturers complete control over what the device that you "own" can do.

I had a great holiday weekend, though yesterday I was actually back at work. I have already dove right back into my normal work stuff.

We are working on third party patching using Cloud PDQ, that has proven to be very cool and easy to manage (so far lol). I am also working on some more PCI stuff, working on my presentation for Penn State on Data Driven Defense, ELK Stack integrations and more! Next week is also Secure World which is going to be a ton of fun. LETS GO!
