Do I use any tools to keep track of plot lines, character details, research, future ideas?

I do my initial drafting in Scrivener, so I keep all my related research materials there. Character details are in a Style Sheet--a carryover from when I was a copyeditor.

Future ideas live in a folder on the laptop where I drop info, plus a blank book I carry around in case inspiration strikes.

Please give Scrivener a free trial. I have this one writer friend who put it off for almost 2 years but after all my begging she finally relented last summer. Now she's a non-stop torrent of praise and thanksgiving, telling me how grateful she is for the recommendation. I didn't do anything except say what I had found: a writing program made for writers. (By the way, she's discovered several features I never knew about, and shared back with me.)

#Schreiben #SelfPublishing

I'm one pissed #Author. Filed this 1-star review on the App Store today. Am I the only one using the iPad with #Scrivener?

Titled: Abandonware?

I hate to lower the star average on this otherwise wonderful author-oriented text editing iPad app, however since iPadOS 26 debuted last fall, the app has suffered from issues with Find (⌘F). I noted them first in beta, and I posted to the forums. Now, with 26.2 out for weeks (I am using the release version of iPadOS, now), still no bug fix update issued. Using Find often but intermittently causes the find window to show then hide itself. If it does show, using it a few times can lock up the app until it quits and restarts. It appears to be related to the Windowed Apps feature, but it happens even with the feature turned off. Lit & Latte has updated the Mac version repeatedly, but why not the iOS/iPadOS version? It feels like they've abandoned it. Think about it, what kind of revision can you do without search and search and replace working? I am using the M5 iPad Pro 13", but it failed on my earlier iPad, too. I do not recommend buying the app for sole iPad use, nor if you need to use it for syncing between Apple platforms. The Mac version has no issues. I will revise this review once the issue is fixed.

Definitely #Scrivener. Been using it for many years and wouldn't swap it.

I can't stop being an advocate for #Scrivener ever since #Microsoft tricked me into saving ALL of my writing to the cloud instead of my device, and then removed 90% of it when I refused to pay for more storage.

Fortunately I compulsively back everything up, but I refuse to to let products I own and use hold my own work ransom.

Anyway, Scrivener is great. Easy to keep notes and individual chapters all in the same project. Never going back.

I use #Scrivener via #Lutris (ie, #Wine) on a #Linux laptop (#Debian with #Gnome DE). It's not the best way to use Scrivener, but Gnome is great for focus--it encourages one application per virtual desktop--and my OS doesn't harass me, which is always good.

#Scrivener und #Papyrus haben beide leider eine steile Lernkurve.
