A very lovely article in the current issue of Homes and Interiors Scotland about our Craiglockhart project in Edinburgh to add to Sir Basil Spence’s first built work. Projects of this sophistication and ambition can only be achieved when every single person and specialist fabricator/supplier involved share our vision and work together with a single aim. Bravo to everyone!!! #scottisharchitecture #contemporaryarchitecture #basilspence #edinburgharchitecture

Follow the website link on our bio to visit the project page for more photographs and information. Look out for this project in magazines this month. #basilspence #scottisharchitecture #contemporaryarchitecture #edinburgharchitecture

The hospital closed in 1998 and it fell into disuse. This was followed by the inevitable fires in 2004 and 2016, leaving the building badly damaged and at risk of being lost. In 2020, it was used as a filming location for The Batman, where it served as Gotham Orphanage.

The Central Admissions Block of Hartwood Hospital near Shotts to the east of Glasgow. Designed by J.L. Murray in an imposing Scots Baronial style, it opened in 1895 as the Lanark District Asylum. A tubercolosis sanatorium was added to the site in 1906.

Absolutely love this grotesque on the former Coats Memorial Church in Paisley. Built in 1894, this church was designed in a Gothic Revival style by H.J. Blanc and it's covered in some fantastic Gothic-inspired sculptures and carvings. It's now used as an events venue.

I tend not to post about our architecture here but I visited our Blackford Hill project for the first time in a few months. As I arrived, I had to stop in the middle of the road to take in what I was seeing. Blown away by the dynamism of the composition of voids. This is where a small, unremarkable bungalow sat until the client’s ambition for the site allowed this design to emerge. Nearly finished, I can’t wait to show you the views over Edinburgh. It is extraordinary. #scottisharchitecture
A preview of a project in Edinburgh that’s careering towards completion. This is a covered terrace which is part of an extension to a Victorian house. Supported on ground screws to avoid damage to the tree roots of the close-by beech tree. So excited to see this come along. #scottisharchitecture
Egypt comes to Inverness! A really beautiful cast iron shopfront in an elegant Egyptian style in Fraser Street, between Church Street and the river. I’d hazard a guess at 1870s, unlisted and zero sensitivity in converting it from a retail frontage to whatever. It deserves a lot more respect than it’s received to date. #scottisharchitecture #HistoricEnvironmentScotland
