Scotch Mist is a band that has more or less paved their own path in the way they connect gentle and seductive funky grooves with romantic soft pop. Their songs are melodically rich, and the band is locked into a lush sound in a relaxed pace. Their songwriting skills particularly stand out. The smooth voice of the lead vocalist Ed Zighelboim exudes warmth and the sonic equivalent of a fuzzy hug, and the bass work is solid. Their Latin influences are as soft focus as most everything else the band does, including glimpses of psychedelic layers built into their music, which is also handled with a fairly light touch. The band extended their reach into a low-key disco territory on their 2023 album, Cabo Blanco.

Today, there has been a constant smir and, consequently, there is a misty blanket obscuring the mountains (and almost everything else).
It is the kind of rain you don't notice until thirty minutes later, when you realise you are soaking wet.
