Just made the first alpha release (0.3.0) of docstub. 🚀 It's a tool to generate Python stub files using type information from docstrings.

https://github.com/scientific-python/docstub

We are developing it to help with adding type annotations to scikit-image. Since many packages, including scikit-image, already describe type information in their docstrings, we want to take advantage of that.

I’m looking forward to an exciting week at the #EuroScipy – one of my favorite conferences! scikit-image will host a tutorial on image processing https://pretalx.com/euroscipy-2024/talk/ZVBAKK/. And on the weekend afterward, we’ll have a rare in-person #scikitImage sprint with multiple maintainers on site!
Image analysis in Python with scikit-image EuroSciPy 2024

Scientists are producing more and more images with telescopes, microscopes, MRI scanners, etc. They need automatable tools to measure what they've imaged and help them turn these images into knowledge. This tutorial covers the fundamentals of algorithmic image analysis, starting with how to think of images as NumPy arrays, moving on to basic image filtering, and finishing with a complete workflow: segmenting a 3D image into regions and making measurements on those regions.

Finally got around to finishing my recounting of the #scipy2024 conference. I had a great time meeting people and discussing #scikitimage and scientific Python in general there! 😊

Last month, I got to enjoy the SciPy 2024 conference again and had a great time meeting people, discussing scikit-image and scientific Python in general there. Here’s my slightly delayed recounting of it.

We recently prepared #scikitimage for #numpy2, which introduces a few significant changes to the promotion rules for scalars and arrays #nep50. So I thought to write up a few takeaways that hopefully make life a bit easier for you and your #numpy code:
