@JoBlakely @davidgerard @lproven and refusing to apply the same kind of critical thinking and requirement for evidence of efficacy as is done for any medicine anywhere is racism of low expectations. And supporting women who push fake medicine is itself anti-feminist. Women aren't special flowers who should get to be free to spread dangerous bullshit unchallenged.
Being anti-colonial doesn't mean you have to throw out all semblance of reason. There's a difference between traditional remedies based on things that have some real effect and holding up 'traditions' that have since been invented to make money from yt people seeking some kind of cultural hit, or to capitalise on formerly repressed culture, all without actually functioning.
Bodies are the same all over the world. Medicine works everywhere. Grifters also exist everywhere. TCM and Ayurveda are dangerous - to people and animals, for example. Some indigenous remedies have insights that are valid and that other scientific methods can verify, if it's necessary.
But no, simply seeking evidence of efficacy is not any of the things you describe. #scientificSkepticism #science #sCAM
