Did you miss our latest paper on #praziquantel 💊 and #schistosome 🐛? We reanalyzed our data with the latest genome assembly. The main takeaway:
- #PZQ response is determined by only one QTL rather than 2 independent loci.
- The Sm.TRPM_PZQ gene is still differentially expressed.
- There are now only 3 gene isoforms and isoform 1 mainly explains the difference in expression.
This demonstrates that high-quality genome assembly is critical for correct trait mapping.

I'm a Staff Scientist at #TxBiomed (San Antonio) working on #schistosome blood fluke. I focus on #parasite traits like drug resistance, host specificity and chronobiology using #genetics and #genomics. I have also a big interest in #microbiome 🦠 of snails 🐌 which are vectors of schistosomes. I do a lot of #bioinformatics 💻 using #bash, #R and #python (👉 https://github.com/fdchevalier/).
