#KnowledgeByte: The #Hollow #Earth is a concept proposing that the planet Earth is entirely hollow or contains a substantial interior space.
The notion was disproven by Nevil Maskelyne and Charles Hutton in their #Schiehallion #Experiment around 1774.

After the inversion and welcome sunshine of the lower slopes we carried on into cloud. The infamous Schiehallion boulder field was pretty tedious, the dusting of snow didn't really fill the gaps just made it more slippery. We didn't get a view from the top not that it bothered anyone. I snapped one guy just grinning happily. It was certainly good to be out.
I found a spot amongst the rocks to give Skye her lunch - which she'd carried up.
Schiehallion yesterday. The fairy hill of the Caledonians. The place where the weight of the earth was first determined. And where contour lines were devised as a method of describing the shape of the land.
Cracking day out.
