My correspondence chess opponent just resigned in a dead drawn position and I am extremely disturbed by this:

It's a dead draw. I offered a draw - declined - about fifteen moves ago. I was about to offer again. Because this is a draw. No-one is winning here.

Why would a person resign this position?

It's... maddening.
