Folding Steam Deck Laptop and Dock Case Remixed by scoots MakerWorld: Download Free 3D Models

This is actually a remix of two models. This is the Primary Model this is remixed off (Reached out to the creator for permission prior to uploading).  This project started humbly with just remixing the model above to fit the wireless Arteck Keyboard/trackpad I had on hand (incredibly solid keyboards, played 200 hours of Baldur's Gate 3 from the couch with one and ordered another which is now in this case). After getting the keyboard down and sitting comfortably in the model, I found because it was much taller than the original keyboard, it caused the hinges to have to move up, which mean that a lot of what the original model relied on for stability wouldn't work here. That's where the handle comes in. The next gen iteration started featuring a handle as something the deck could rest back against, as well as something to just help with moving around the house. A primary reason I looked into some sort of support for the deck itself within the model was because I am a couch gamer at heart. Sitting at a solid surface to use the Steam Deck kinda killed the point of mounting the device for me, so I wanted this to be able to support itself.  Then while scrolling, I saw the second model that I've incorporated into this one. I have the exact same Jsaux dock for my deck when not using it on the couch. It seemed almost serendipitous because it took very little trial and error (two prints) to get the angling just right. After getting the angles nailed on the dock sitting inside the handle, I just needed to find a way to make it easy to keep the dock on hand while not in use. I had played with using magnets for the keyboard in earlier revisions of the model which is why there are still holes for magnets for the keyboard. you shouldn't need to use magnets to keep the keyboard in place with the lip I added, but because I already had the magnets on the back of my keyboard, I went ahead and slotted them in. I was using smaller 6mm x 2mm magnets for the keyboard experimentation but had larger 10mm x 2.5mm on hand, and thought they'd be perfect for the dock to mount to the outside of the deck.  The added benefit of this was (and this is dependent on how close you're able to replicate this) I got the magnets to line up while the deck is unfolded and in use, giving this usable support and rigidity without it being level. I was very pleased with this as a surprise added benefit. As long as you nest the additional plate to glue on the bottom of the Jsaux dock similarly to where I have mine glued up in this image, you should be cooking. I'm really happy with how this has come together and its working perfectly for my intended use case. I printed this across revisions in both PETG and ABS (final models in ABS). I would recommend one of the two or other high temperature tolerance filaments for this project, especially if you do long sustained sessions like I do.
