Die Produktion, deren Premiere am 23. Juli 2015 in der Regie von Barrie Kosky in Glyndebourne bewies, dass Händels „Saul“ ein Meisterwerk mit Tiefgang ist, hat am 23. November 2025 auch das Kölner Premierenpublikum hingerissen. Unter der musikalischen Leitung von Rubén Dubrovsky entfaltete das Gürzenich-Orchester mit dem Chor der Kölner Oper und hochkarätigen Solistinnen und Solisten ein Barockspektakel der Sonderklasse.
