Erik Satie jedoch verdiente seinen Lebensunterhalt als Hintergrund-Pianist in Cafés am Pariser Montmartre. Er gilt als Erfinder der "Ambient Music" und prägt diese bis heute. Im vergangenen Jahrhundert hat er unter anderem Miles Davis und Charlie Parker beeinflusst, aber auch in modernen Kompositionen ist er noch präsent.
