There are a few positive developments.
Mork Borg is great! It's also unreadable, art pieces instead of a playable game. But heavy metal fuck yeah! Pirate Borg walks a closer line to usable.
There've been a few others like that, sadly both the major ones (initials VS and LOTFP) have rampant asshole homophobes/sexists involved, which is bullshit, we want the fringe weirdos! They scare the normies! If you're square, GTFO back to Hasbro.

Now, caveats:
We had D&D cartoon & action figures back in day. TSR was always evil & hated their fans making anything. But they were kinda incompetent evil, Pureheart etc were jank figures, & modules for them were jokes; the actual D&D modules were blood & thunder until fucking Dragonlance ruined everything.
Hasbro isn't even fun evil, they're just "we make money by grinding your dreams into pablum". Critical Role are drama nerds that D&D nerds used to beat up.

I really feel like we let things slip away. RPGs used to be *scary*, even if you weren't personally hit by the Satanic Panic, everyone knew we were into some bad shit. Art was always adventurers dying horribly.
Now, the thing's gone so commercial. Critical Role is a bunch of anodyne voice actors whose worst offense is rolling badly. Hasbro's the kind of evil megacorp TSR only dreamed of being. Art's all this heroic posing love shit.
