YORK FACTORY EXPRESS JOURNAL, 1849:
"At half past three o'clock came to the foot of Coals Falls [Lacolle rapids], where all hands saving the Boutes per each boat were obliged to track.
"Wednesday. At 2 pm we reached Rapide de Croche, and at half past four the men put away the tracking lines and took to their oars. Camped at half past seven.
