Het afweersysteem van patiënten met post-covid maakt antistoffen die mogelijk een rol spelen bij het ontstaan van hun klachten. Het eigen immuunsysteem faalt dan en keert zich ten onrechte tegen het lichaam. Dat wijst een studie uit onder leiding van onderzoekers van Amsterdam UMC en het UMC Utrecht. De resultaten uit de studie maken de weg vrij voor de ontwikkeling van nieuwe behandelingen. Denk aan gerichte therapieën die schadelijke antistoffen kunnen verwijderen of neutraliseren.
