A few summers ago, sitting on my front porch, I had a can of sardines as part of my lunch. Maybe some soup, salad, and some bread to put the sardines on.

Lovely oily yummy stinky fish!

When I was done, I took the can with the remaining oil and fish bits and poured it on a clump of clover growing right by the sidewalk.

Why? A prank.

Later a dog being taken for a walk, stopped abruptly at the clover, stood, sniffed, astonished. The owner tugged, but transfixed dog would not budge!
