ICE Out For Good - SANTA CRUZ CA · Mobilize

On Wednesday, January 7th, an American citizen - Renee Nicole Good -was killed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This killing is part of a broader pattern of unchecked violence, impunity, and abuse carried out by federal immigration enforcement agencies against members of our communities. A broad coalition of groups across the country is calling for a coordinated Ice Out For Good Weekend of Action on Saturday, January 10th and Sunday, January 11th to demand accountability, honor the life lost, and make visible the human cost of ICE’s actions. A core principle behind all ICE Out For Good events is a commitment to nonviolent action and no civil disobedience. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values, and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events. All events should be held in public spaces or on public property. Indivisible is managing data and communications with participants. By registering, you agree to receive info from Indivisible about the event, receive communications via e-mail or SMS message from Indivisible, and receive any other updates and opportunities to take action or support ICE OUT FOR GOOD partner organizations. You also agree to have any data entered in this registration collected by Indivisible. Went to the Vista Center for Blind and Visually Impaired in Santa Cruz today. It was for a combination of personal and professional reasons: (1) I'm blind / low-vision and need local resources and community, and (2) I'm looking for local business connections for my new accessibility nonprofit, Brain Computer Enterprises, Cooperative Inc. ( @bce ). It was a very helpful and productive first visit on both fronts!

Today I went to the Santa Cruz, California protest march against Trump’s Republican fascist, racist, Christian white supremacist, regime in the USA. Thousands of people stood up and blocked the streets as we marched through Santa Cruz. We got a lot of positive feedback, including supportive honks and yelling, from people in cars passing by. We didn’t face anyone that was pro-Trump.

Comcast Xfinity notified me that they changed my unlimited Internet plan to $25 per 50 GB unless I upgrade my plan. I was already paying $138 per month for 1 Gb download and ~100 Mb upload.

I just switched to EarthLink, which is a wrapper around local AT&T fiber optics. I'm now paying $80 per month for a symmetric 1 Gb optical connection with an option to upgrade to symmetric 5 Gb for $200 per month.

I'm grateful I have options here in Santa Cruz, CA, USA.

Attorney Testifies That Operator Coverage Maps are not Truthful!

County supervisors initially deniend a tower permit because AT&T coverage maps showed full coverage all around the proposed site.

They reconsidered after attorney for tower company testified that "AT&T website maps were simply “inaccurate marketing” maps and did not paint a truthful picture." I haven found Verizon and T-Mobile maps are accurate either https://lookout.co/confused-by-coverage-maps-supervisors-agree-to-consider-tree-disguised-bonny-doon-cellphone-tower-and-dodge-lawsuit/story #mobile #santaCruzCA #ATT

Confused by coverage maps, supervisors agree to consider tree-disguised Bonny Doon cellphone tower and dodge lawsuit

A proposed 151-foot cell tower in Bonny Doon has sparked debate over wireless coverage, scenic views and legal authority, as the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors weighs conflicting data and accusations of regulatory missteps ahead of a final decision set for June 10.

Dope Lemon @ Catalyst Club in Santa Cruz on 10/17. The place always feels claustrophobic to me, but its hard to deny the energy in the air during great shows. #dopelemon #livemusic #santacruz #santacruzca

I'd rather be picking them off the tree I used to own in Santa Cruz, but dang if these figs from Trader Joe's are pretty good! (and not a bad price for 2 lbs, actually)
