"Ambientes mineros de #montaña en el sur de #Mendoza (#Argentina)"

En los departamentos de #SanRafael y #Malargüe, se planificaron y desarrollaron numerosos proyectos mineros a diferentes escalas, en función de una #geología igualmente diversa y rica en recursos minerales, de la Cordillera de los #Andes. La explotación de estos yacimientos, que excede la variedad metalífera tradicional, propició la diversificación de la extracción y, en algunos casos, la manufactura de minerales, en un particular contexto histórico ambiental del #capitalismo argentino propio de la Sustitución de Importaciones del siglo XX.

> In the departments of #SanRafael and #Malargüe a large number of mining ventures were developed at different scales according to a #geology equally diverse and rich in mineral resources, both in the #Andes Mountain Range. The exploitation of these deposits, which exceeds the traditional metalliferous variety, led to diversification of extraction and, in some cases, the transformation of minerals, within the socio-environmental historical context of the #capitalism of the 20th century.

- Forgot to fill my water bottle. Just as I drank my last drop, I encountered an oasis: a support stop for today’s half-marathon! They had water, snacks, electrolytes. They kindly shared some water with me. Thanks, runners! 🏃

- Also lots of mountain bikers on the same trail. One aggro, all the rest very considerate. They’d call out “3 more behind me!” which was so helpful. 🚵

In the short film footage, a group of hikers managed to document the exact moment a giant ice block broke off from the wall of the San Rafael glacier. The images were filmed in the Laguna San Rafael National Park, in the Chilean region of Aysén, one of the most visited areas of Patagonia. The San Rafael is known for being one of the glaciers with the fastest retreat rate in Chile due to climate change.
