"This is a fun, free opportunity to swap or donate usable clothing and household items, keeping them from the waste stream.

SWAP or simply DROP OFF:

- Small household appliances in good working condition (can include microwaves, coffee makers, toasters, lamps, etc.)
- Accent furniture (end tables, coffee tables, chairs, desks)
- Home decor (artwork, vases, knick-knacks, collectibles)
- Kitchen items (dishes, pots/pans, glassware, utensils)
- Women’s, men’s, & children’s clothing and accessories

Drop off donations 9:30-12:30. Choose items any time 10-1.

* All un-swapped items will be collected by #ReSupply. Items will then be donated or re-sold.

PLEASE, NO damaged/unusable textiles at this event. Instead, bring non-reusable textiles to any of the textile recovery bins located in all Salem Public School parking lots."

Today in 1933, the Pequot Mills textile workers wildcat strike began in #SalemMA

The national union didn't back them. Management tried to sow division between the immigrant French-Canadians and the immigrant Polish workers. Red-baiting when labor organizer Anne Burlak got involved. It didn't work! They didn't break. /1

"Don’t throw away your broken item – bring it to the Repair Café! Zero Waste Salem will be hosting a Repair Café on Saturday, May 16 from 9am-12 noon at the Community Life Center at 401 Bridge Street.

Appointments are required and walk-ins will not be accepted. Pre-registration is required via link (stay tuned for updates) or email [email protected].

Repair volunteers at this event will be available to mend clothing, sew buttons, and tinker with or rewire electronics and lamps. Please keep in mind these services may change as we confirm volunteers. We hope to see you at this fun event where you can learn how to fix things and reduce your waste!

TERRACYCLE — We’re collecting FIVE TerraCycle categories of otherwise hard-to-recycle items. Please keep each TerraCycle stream separate.
** #Swiffers: All used, dried #Swiffer pads.
** #Razors: All brands of reusable and disposable razors, blades & cartridges, as well as any flexible or rigid plastic packaging they come in.
** Dental Care: Non-electric #toothbrushes, #toothpaste tubes, & #floss containers. All brands, plus toothbrush packaging.
**Brita: #Brita dispenser, Brita pitchers, Brita bottles, Brita standard filters, Brita Stream filters, Brita bottle filters, Brita filter packaging, Brita Longlast® filters, Brita Stream® pitchers.
**#BurtsBees empty product containers and packaging.

Bob Dylan & The Grateful Dead, Dylan & The Dead, 1989 on Columbia

Recorded live in July 1987 during the six-city tour of that summer. While the shows from that tour typically had a first set of Dead material followed by a set with Dylan, this recording highlights the Dylan songs with the Dead serving as a backup band.

Got some harsh critical reviews a the time as a kind of commercial sellout record for both, I think it stands up really well and I was excited to find a good vinyl reissue.

My copy—via the Record Exchange in Salem—is a 2018 reissue pressed at Memphis Record Pressing.
