Компания Saleae производит логические анализаторы и предоставляет программу Saleae Logic 2 для отображения, анализа и логгирования данных. Logic 2 поддерживает разнообразные интерфейсы и протоколы и их декодирование. Для расширения функций анализатора в Logic 2 появилась возможность создания своих обработчиков и декодеров протоколов. В представляемом материале рассматривается создание своего декодера - анализатора верхнего уровня (HLA). Зачем? Например, есть последовательность передаваемых по SPI байт. Стандартно, при правильной настройке, вы увидите значения этих байт. Но, может возникнуть вопрос интерпретации полученных данных. Декодер может помочь в выводе данных в удобном виде и/или упростить анализ (reverse engineering) неизвестного протокола.

Making address transmissions to be single 16-bit packets enables easy value search in #saleae Logic and saves a few nanoseconds between transmissions.

Also this Z80 variant has a weird counter on the address pins after reading the first instruction, will need to decode it more carefully later.

Turns out it’s possible to serialize data to 100MHz UART on the FPGA side, and have #saleae correctly decode it with 500MS/s sampling rate.

Does anybody have a reverse engineered spec of the current Saleae Logic2 .sal format?

I understand their point of not releasing spec, I just disagree and want to parse my own files anyway. And yeah I know that export is possible it just adds too much friction.

A few days ago, I fried my #saleae pro logic 8. I've bought the device over 8 years ago. This was quite a downer, as the device is quite expensive and I've used it just for non-commercial stuff.

I've chatted with support about how I can buy a replacement. I did not expect much, as this was clearly my fault and the device was way beyond warranty and I even could not find the receipt.

They immediately offered to send out a replacement part without any charge! This is just awesome.

Just spent an hour chasing a problem with a DAC output, it was a bit wobbly and didn't reach the full 3.3V.
Just by chance I swapped the inputs round on my Saleae Logic Pro and the fault went away...
Swapped back and it returned, so it looks like I have a bad channel :(

At top: the "trimming" is an illusion, Saleae actually stores more signal than you asked for, and it can be revealed through a simple file rewriter. Hope it wasn't, like, secret.

This behavior is controlled by ~3 fields in the analog capture file, and looks deliberate. It seems difficult to achieve by accident.

And thanks to that we're reaching the point of wanting to buy fancy *boxes* for the fancy equipment - a nice metal carry-case and some Cut-And-Peel shadow foam, make a nice multi-layer storage compartment for the small clip-probes and bigger oscilloscope leads, maybe the AD3 adapter boards a layer below...
