Andy Stirling emphasized two crucial points in his keynote at our #safeND symposium :
💡“Truth is spoken by science.” Reliable evidence is essential for nuclear waste disposal safety.
💡“Not enough questions are asked.” To strengthen long-term strategies, societies must not only rely on answers but also cultivate the habit of questioning assumptions.
He emphasised that nuclear safety depends as much on evidence as on the readiness to question assumptions.
Time is not only a measure of progress – it is also a measure of safety.
#safeND 2025 brought this to the forefront of the debate on nuclear waste disposal. More than 350 guests from 18 countries gathered at Berlin’s Radialsystem to explore how time influences both risks and opportunities in long-term safety strategies.
