A white swan from a fairy tale
A huge ship. Or a white swan. A huge boat from Slavic fairy tales. Grandmother bought me picture books. And coloring books. And I colored them. This huge flower reminds me of those days. I was little and really loved those fairy tales. For example, Sadko. The one about the underwater world. It was my favorite. Thanks to my grandmother!

"Sadko," Ilya Repin, 1875.
In a classic Russian poem, Sadko is a musician who goes to an undersea kingdom to sing for the sea-king. In reward he is given a choice of the king's 300 daughters, but he has eyes only for the youngest. This painting depicts that moment. I love the golden tones and the fantastical setting.
