I was looking for a firmer replacement for the WTB Volt saddle and ordered a WTB Silverado. However, I didn't notice that it's longer (265mm vs 280mm)

I don't quite understand what advantages a longer saddle provides (I also see a modern trend towards shorter saddles). How serious of a mistake did I make? It's no longer possible to cancel the order.

I plan to use the saddle for uphill training sessions (the replacement was needed to improve power transfer).

Put locking #saddles on my $200 Kramer (now it's more like $400).
Too soon to tell whether they work, but I think they help. I hope I'm not wrong.
They need to unlock to adjust action or intonation, or to change strings.
Weren't too hard to put on.
