Some of #Sabres problem they can't control, like others' record in last 10 games:
TBL is 7-1-2 and MON is 9-1-0 including eight straight, so those two teams are a combined 16-2-2.

MON next 4 at home too. (NJ, FLA, TBL, CBJ). Yeesh.

The last word from DC: #Sabres seek answers to sudden slump as first playoff series since 2011 now looms.

"Terrible effort. It was not even close to being good today. We've got to look ourselves in the mirror."

I asked Tage Thompson how he feels the #Sabres are handling the elevated intensity and desperation of their opponents recently.

"All the teams we've been playing are playing for their playoff lives and we've just been cruising. Too casual."

The theme in the #Sabres locker room was the same after tonight's game.

Tough to talk about breaking the 14-season playoff drought when they played as poorly as they did.

Here's Rasmus Dahlin, Tage Thompson, and Alex Tuch juggling their emotions.

Alex Tuch: "Our next-man-up mentality and our compete and depth have really shown throughout the season. ... We're gonna need that through our entire playoff run. We have to work on that or else there's going to be a really short playoff run." #Sabres
Tage Thompson: "I gotta be better. I think it starts with me and I think our 'D' zone (coverage) was putrid all night. ... You just can't hand them free goals at the beginning of the game and expect you're gonna win." #Sabres
