I think an equivalent "Rural Dictionary" entry I could make would be "shore lunch."

If you are out in a boat on a lake fishing all day, you bring supplies to make lunch over a fire on shore: potatoes, oil, breading, and pan for frying fish...

(The lake I grew up on was mostly surrounded by Canadian "crown land," so forest and granite shores with few humans made it easy to build a small fire on shore to cook up "shore lunch.")

Re: Rural Dictionary

I live in an area with a lot of farms, but that does not mean I know the lingo!

A co-worker mentioned bringing a "cream can" for camping, and I had NO IDEA what she meant.

It is a big metal can used in dairy farms for cream from cow milk, I think?

She and her farm family community would bring a cream can to cook dinner/stew in over a campfire while camping. Obvious to her and her experience, but not to me.
