31- game or gamer that I miss.

Well we don't get to hang out with our old Sydney gang nearly as much as we would like to, but part of that issue was them moving to the UK... and we did get over there for a time, played some ripping games when we did.

Everyone is back in the Downunderverse now, just wildly different parts of it.

Struggled to adapt to the online gaming boom, but hey...coming around with Ars Magica of all things. I'll report back.

30- someone I'd like to game with huh?

I've been lucky in having had the chance to game at least occasionally with quite a few of the game designers who have had significant influence on me, as well as a great many regulars across Batmania's club and con circuit.

Would love to get a bit of table time with @genesisoflegend though. Great fan of the games he's created, but he's about as far away from my base of operations as one can get in the range of human habitation...

29- awesome app?

In honesty by hours of use we probably use Discord and Twitch, so I'm not especially cool in that manner.

But they do the job, and they've allowed us to run a lot of cool events like Game Dunk when people would have struggled to attend in person.

And I've generally had to use those services through my phone because my computers are usually falling apart.

28- as a bit of a LoTec myself (a recent reread of Johnny Mnemonic has left me understandably sad) I don't think I'm hugely into gadgets.

But ya know what I only learned was cool about a year ago?

The hexin' Zinefold baby!

I can make so many gaming mini-books now! And you can just run off copies at your local library for like 0.20 dollaridoos! Get your ideas to... well, anyone!

Got the image from these folks, dunno if they're cool or not.

Zine making Resources

The Internet is stuffed with advice for making DIY zines. Here are a couple of simple techniques that might prove useful in the early stages of your experiments. These templates and examples refer...

27- Marvellous miniature.

I mean anyone will tell you I'm a turbo keen diorama-head and having come up in Warhammer this little monster won me over.

Love a good diorama, and this one has a whole lot of character. Courtesy of Alex Dos Santos, I think @alexdoesmini on the birdsite but not sure if they're over here.

So anyway, dioramas forever.

Don't know how you'd use them in a #ttrpg but you won't change my mind.

26- uh, time to play catchup.

A superb screen?

Well ideally you would have a screening force of light infantry to cause additional friction and give some warning to the main push of your assault, ideally lightly equipped enough that they could retreat behind your main formation after harassing the enemy's main line.

Look, I don't use a GM screen okay? I just read too much ACOUP https://acoup.blog/

Closest is probably having PBTA sheets in front of me...

25- desirable dice? What?

I don't know I know some people get really into them but I don't think I get especially attached to mine... I'm probably not the target market.

Though I think I still have a d20 ice cube mould, which is certainly a flex and appropriate given how much I drink generally.

#rpgaday24 and #rpgada2024 apparently. Look at us splintering linguistically.

18- great fan of Relics flashback system as it seems to generate great moments of play at every table it lands on.

Most memorable have included PC angels picking up fistfighting from Bruce Lee while acting as stunt extras on The Game of Death, learning pyrotechnics from ancient Egyptian engineers during and incursion of The Sea People, and learning how to fake ghostly phenomena from Harry Houdini.

Gets folks invested fast, making it together.

So that's mostly @tinstargames doing.

17- there are a lot of engaging rpg communities out there.

Always been very impressed with how engaged and excited the folks in the FIST and Newstand Press communities are, and how positive they manage to keep their spaces.

IRL, I always appreciate what ARC has been doing in the Aussie context.

16- quick to learn eh?

Well here's an interesting deceptive issue I've come across.

Lasers and Feelings (and it's descendants, including my own MONSTER Adjusted) has a core mechanic that's really easy to wrap your head around. There are functionally no other mechanics to vex you.

What it does not teach is the improv skills to make the constant small wins and setbacks into an actual story. And that is an actual skill that can be...glaring in its absence.

A non-response, but meh.
