Parent, Guardian, and Community Sign-On Letter: Stand Against Hate & Violence in Our School

Dear Royal Oak High School & District Leadership,
We, the undersigned parents, guardians, and community members, are deeply concerned about the decision to allow a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) chapter to operate within our schools.
Our district policy clearly states that:
“Participation in a student-initiated meeting must be available to all students who wish to attend and cannot be denied on the basis of a student's gender, religion, race, color, national origin or ancestry, age, disability, height, weight, marital status, social or economic status, and/or any other legally protected characteristic. In addition, there shall be no discrimination on the basis of the religious, political, philosophical, or other content of the speech at the meeting.”
We urge district leaders, staff, and board members to reflect on this policy in light of what we know about TPUSA and its documented record of promoting messages that conflict with our district’s stated values of safety, belonging, and inclusion for all students.
We know that:
TPUSA has openly promoted replacement theory — an ideology rooted in white supremacy.
The organization has amplified violent extremists and white nationalist figures.
TPUSA’s leaders consistently share anti-LGBTQ and anti-woman rhetoric, including claims that women should “submit to their husbands.”
Local TPUSA chapters across the country have celebrated the provocation of others as a political act, violating the spirit of our district’s policies on inclusion and respect.
TPUSA chapters have doxxed, assaulted, and threatened students, faculty, board members, and staff who disagree with their values and ideology.
Let us be clear: this is not about politics.
It is not a political question whether a Black pilot is qualified to fly, whether a public servant or student of color is intelligent, or whether women and LGBTQ people deserve respect. These are questions of human dignity, and denying that dignity is discrimination — not “difference of opinion.”
We do not need to wait for harm to occur in our schools to act. The values and tactics of TPUSA are already in direct conflict with the inclusive learning environment our district promises to every student.
We call on district leadership and the Board of Education to:
Reexamine TPUSA’s eligibility as a student organization under existing district policy.
Publicly reaffirm the district’s commitment to preventing discrimination and harm toward any protected group.
Stand with the students, families, and educators who have already spoken up for justice, safety, and belonging.
Join us in person on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at the Royal Oak Schools Administration Office for the School Board meeting. Let’s stand together for a school community where every student is safe, respected, and free to learn without fear of hate or intimidation.
