If you're wondering why this pumpkin was in such a sorry state, I took this photo on MARCH 20, 2022. The poor thing had been left outside for several months, subjected to multiple rounds of freezing and thawing. Someone (not me) tried to give voice to the sorrow of the gourd.

I found a decomposing Halloween pumpkin in Brooklyn in March with “WHY GOD WHY?” written on it. This led me ponder pumpkins left on the job too long.
