in his late 20s and early 30s, my father painted. among other things, this picture of a village in the snow. i secretly smuggled it into the SNOW book. the last picture is a framed photograph he took from our living room window in the 80s.
this weekend i will release SCHNEE and MÄANDER in berlin with an exhibition at FASONO sonnenallee 133: friday from 19h and saturday and sunday from 14-18h. come by - there will be tea and cake for you!

a drawing from the children’s book SNOW: a large pile of snow that was later hollowed out and transformed into a snow castle - a magical autobiographical memory from my childhood. the slides show my siblings Michael, Thomas & Marco and me. i am so grateful for those moments in my life when we managed to create something that was literally bigger than ourselves.
that’s what i wish for the challenges of our time: i wish for compassion and selflessness. i wish for smart, active approaches to climate change and the conflicts we face!

for my children’s book SCHNEE i watched photographies of my childhood. here you see one of the giantic snow drifts we had almost every winter. we were digging caves inside. the kids from the neighborhood, my 3 brothers and me built snow characters as well as igloos, castles and ski-jumps.
