At the meeting on Thursday June 18th the speaker will be the Mayor of the City of Maribyrnong, Mohamed Semra.
Councillor Semra was first elected to Maribyrnong Council in 2024 and elected as Mayor for the 2025/26 year.

After a week traveling for business, I was home for a night and then drove up early this morning into Quebec to spend the weekend at a #Rotary #District7850 conference, bringing together Rotarians across northern NH, VT, and part of southern Quebec for sessions and conversations!

Ok, mein Hirn hat das hinbekommen 👍

Etwa 20 Mitglieder eines Dresdner Rotary Clubs haben mir nach einem sehr schnellen (aber sehr leckeren!) Mittagessen zugehört, wie ich in Windeseile wesentliche Entwicklungen bei Social Media geschildert habe (Desinformation, Monopole von BigTech, Machtkonzentration, ...) und am Ende als Ausblick auf den Bedarf an offener digitaler Infrastruktur und mehr und bessere Regulierung hingewiesen habe.

Es kamen noch interessierte Nachfragen und die Aussage, dass man mit viel Stoff zum nachdenken nach Hause geht.
Mission accomplished  

Das Fediverse als Teil der Lösung habe ich selbstredend erwähnt (kannte leider niemand) und darauf hingewiesen, dass der Rotary Club dort auch noch nicht aktiv ist...
