Hype for the Future 100W: Spencer County, Indiana
Overview Spencer County is located within the southwestern portion of the State of Indiana, along the Ohio River fairly east of the City of Evansville. Today, the county is most notable for serving as home to Santa Claus, Indiana; however, the Ohio River community of Rockport, Indiana, serves as the county seat. While Rockport contains the Lincoln Pioneer Village and Museum, Santa Claus contains the Santa Claus Museum and Village, as well as Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari when in […]https://novatopflex.wordpress.com/2026/02/08/hype-for-the-future-100w-spencer-county-indiana/
Hype for the Future 63U: Places to Stay in Camden, Maine
Introduction The Town of Camden is a surprisingly significant tourist draw located in Knox County, Maine, along the Penobscot Bay. Despite not having the typical services associated with resort communities across the nation, the community of Camden may be silently welcoming to the LGBTQIA+ community in many of the following lodging options: Places to Stay (Not an Exhaustive List) Elm Street / Main Street / U.S. Route 1 (South to North) Cedar Crest Inn Elms of Camden Blackberry […]https://novatopflex.wordpress.com/2026/01/02/hype-for-the-future-63u-places-to-stay-in-camden-maine/
Hype for the Future 63T: Towns of Camden and Rockport, Maine
Overview Both Camden and Rockport are located along the Penobscot Bay in the northern part of Knox County, Maine. However, most of the educational, academic, and historical facilities are located in the more southerly Town of Rockport while the more northerly Town of Camden is notable for more modern amenities and a historic urban core. The special-focus higher-education institution of the Maine Media Workshops and College is located within Rockland, along with the Camden-Rockport Historical […]The twin lighthouses on Thacher Island, Rockport MA, photographed from Buck Hill. From this perspective, the North Tower (38.89 mi) is on the left and the South Tower (38.76 mi) is on the right. The northern end of the Island and the North Tower are owned by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Fish and Wildlife Service. The remainder of the island, including the South Tower, the boat ramp, and numerous houses and structures are owned by the Town of Rockport MA. I visited the island last year, and it is spectacular to see these lighthouses up close. While we were there we were able to climb to South Tower, though visibility was not optimal on the day of our visit.
This has proven to be a challenging photo to capture. This looks over a lot of water and even on the days when things are crystal clear, the ocean often has fog, haze or excessive turbulence. To see this also requires positioning oneself on very particular parts of Buck Hill. Near the summit, the view of the lighthouses is obscured by Chickatawbut Hill (which can be seen at the bottom of the frame).
