It’s been cold for so long that I forgot what it’s like to not have to wear layers just to step outside. So when the cold winter wind is biting at my ears, fingers and cheeks, I try to remember what it feels like to be at the beach with the hot sand between my toes, just being a wallflower, and observing people’s beach-day antics.
In this photo, a group of young men, who I believe were strangers to one another, came together in a contest of brawn and athleticism. Even with my brain foggy from mid-day drinking, this moment brought me back to memories of my childhood. And rather than seeing grown men trying to out jump one another in the sand, all I could see was each person’s inner child coming out for a playday at the beach.
